A Statement of Welcome (2024)

Faith welcomes all people in the name of Christ Jesus.

Faith welcomes all because God welcomes all, regardless of our ethnicity or language, race or culture, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or relationship status (Galatians 3:26-28).

Faith welcomes all regardless of our addictions or abilities, physical or mental health, imprisonment, socio-economic circumstances, or anything else that might divide us, because our unity is in Christ alone (Ephesians 2:14).

Where We Are

Faith Walkers Calendar

We have a saying around Faith Lutheran Church: “Welcome Home!” This does NOT mean that we are such a great group of people and that you should come and be a part of our church family (though it is true that this is a great group of people who would love to have you come and be part of this church family!). No, we say welcome home because this is a church of the God who welcomes all.

There’s a story in the Bible that Jesus tells about a father with two sons. The younger son makes off with half of the family fortune and spends it all on “wild living.” Tired, broke, and broken, he heads back home with his tail between his legs, ready to eat crow and take his lumps.

But here’s the thing: Jesus says that “while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.” And the point of the story, Jesus says, is that God is like that father.

We say welcome home to one another because each one of us is the wayward child who has been welcomed home by a loving, gracious father. We say welcome home because we want you to experience the same transforming power and love of the God who created you, loves you, and has a purpose for your life. The Bible says that nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. This church is made up of people who cling to this promise with everything we’ve got.

If you’ve been wandering a bit; feeling lost or out of place; if you’re broken or beat up: Faith Lutheran wants to welcome you home.

May God bless you and have a good day!
