“Who alone does great wonders, for his steadfast love endures forever.” Psalm 136:3

Martin Luther writes, “We are filled with God, and He pours into us all His gifts and fills us with His Spirit, who makes us courageous. He enlightens us with His light, His life lives in us. His beatitudes makes us blessed, and His love causes love to rise in us. Put briefly, He fill us in order that everything He is and everything He can do might be in us in all its fullness, and work powerfully.”

April 2013 - Sacrifice Proportionately

Sacrifice Proportionately

as Christ sacrificed for us.  For our sake Jesus gave up everything to make us rich through the cross and the resurrection.  We are called to sacrifice so others may share in God’s word and blessings.

“…gave according to their means,

and even beyond their means.”

2 Corinthians 8:3

March 2013 - Obey Responsibly

Obey responsibly

to glorify God as a faithful proclamation of God’s word.  We acknowledge our faith and show our faith in the gospel for the glory of God and for the building up of the body of Christ.  This takes courage.  It involves our life-long obedience, including the ways we treat our families, others, and ourselves.

“…you glorify God by your obedience to the confession

 of the Gospel of Christ.”

2 Corinthians 9:13

February 2013 - Respond Gratefully

Respond Gratefully

to what God has first given us.  All that we do is a response to God’s grace.  Everything that we are, have, and use comes from God.  Best of all, God gives the gift of Jesus Christ and the community of believers.  It all begins with God.  Our confession of faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is not of our own doing.  Grateful stewards put God first.

“…but they gave themselves first to the Lord.”

                                                                                              2 Corinthians 8:5

January 2013 - Stewardship and Consecration

posted Mar 27, 2013, 1:56 PM by Pastor Brian   [ updated Mar 27, 2013, 2:08 PM ]

Two words which go together are Stewardship and Consecration.

Stewardship which is defined as: one who acts as a supervisor or administrator of finances or property for another.

As stewards of God's gifts, we serve as administrators or caretakers of the abundant gifts God has given us.

Consecrate means to: set apart as holy; to devote to religious use; make or declare sacred.

In putting together two key words today - stewardship and consecration - we have a powerful message:

We are to administer the property or finances for another (God) and in doing so, to set them apart as holy and sacred and devoted to God's use - not ours.
